A very pleasant, half-day trip to one of the most popular peaks of the Beskid Sądecki - Przehyba. At the top there is a mountain shelter and wonderful views of nearby and distant peaks, including the Tatra Mountains. The trail starting in the center of Szczawnica, near the lower station of the PKL Palenica chairlift, creates a loop, which makes the hike more interesting.
Trail color: blue - green
Walking time: 6 h 10 min
Highest point: Przehyba 1175 m above sea level
We start the trip in the center of Szczawnica, near Willa Pod Kolejką and the lower station of the PKL Palenica chairlift.Follow the yellow and blue signs along Zdrojowa Street towards Plac Dietla (10 min).On the square, we choose the blue signs that will accompany us to the very top.The blue trail initially leads through the streets of Szczawnica and then through the forest, quite laboriously, but not very steeply. On the way we pass the interesting Zaskalnik Waterfall, and in places there are gaps among the trees allowing us to see nice views.
The route takes us to the intersection near Przehyba (2 h 45 min), where the blue trail joins the green one, which we will follow on the way back.We continue along the ridge trail, which is quite overgrown, up to the top of Przehyba (40 min). There is a tourist shelter and a relay mast on Przehyba. The peak itself is already quite overgrown, which means that the views are limited.
The best viewing point is the terrace in front of the mountain shelter, from which there is a wonderful panorama of the Pieniny Mountains and the Tatra Mountains. The return initially follows the familiar green-blue trail to the intersection near Przehyba (35 min), where this time we choose the green signs. The return trail is steeper than the blue one, but it offers better views along the route and takes us directly to the center of Szczawnica, where we started the hike (2 hours).
