Spa and buildings Discover the charms of Swiss-Tyrolean architecture! Szczawnica is a picturesque town located between the Pieniny Mountains and Beskid Sądecki. From here it is best to go hiking in both ranges. The city is adjacent to the Pieniny National Park and the world-famous Dunajec River rafting ends in our town. Szczawnica owes its name to 12 sources of sour-tasting mineral waters, called szczaw by the highlanders.

Buildings of similar Swiss-Tyrolean construction and appearance are located along the entire street. This walking alley takes you to Dietla Square, around which the most important objects of the entire spa development are located. There is, among others, a new Spa House and pump rooms.
The spa buildings in Szczawnica are a whole complex of ancient buildings that have been serving patients and residents of the city continuously since the interwar period. Most of the buildings were built when they were owned by the Szalay family, who contributed to the development of the spa part of the city. The sanatorium complex is still in use today and is considered one of the most beautiful parts of Szczawnica.
Dietl Square
Visit the most important point of the spa part of Szczawnica. Within Dielta Square you can find a monument dedicated to Józef Szalay, who was a promoter of the creation of Polish health resorts. From Dietla Square and admiring the old spa buildings of Szczawnica, you can go to the extraordinary Spa Parks - Dolny and Górny, where you can also find sanatoriums, villas and buildings belonging to this extraordinary, ancient complex.

Promenade
The best place for a walk with your significant other! The walking promenade in Szczawnica, running completely on flat terrain, is 1,800 meters long, which makes it one of the longest in Poland. It starts under the lower station of the cable car to Palenica and stretches along the Grajcarek stream. On the other hand, it connects to the pedestrian and bicycle path, which is a trail leading to Slovakia, along the Dunajec River. Moreover, it is located sometimes on one side and sometimes on the other side of the stream, and its continuity is ensured by charming bridges. There are many benches, gazebos and flower beds along the promenade, which makes it even more attractive. The lighting also makes this attraction useful after dark.

Rafting on the Dunajec River
You have to see it with your own eyes! Rafting down the Dunajec Gorge is one of the main and greatest attractions of Szczawnica and the surrounding area - it is used by several hundred thousand tourists from Poland and abroad every year. The Pieniny Gorge, deeply wedged between the limestone rocks of the Dunajec Gorge, on the section between Sromowce Niżne and Szczawnica. The greatest tourist and sightseeing attraction of the Pieniny Mountains, a landscape and natural phenomenon on a European scale, numerous loops and sharp turns among the rocks, the height of which in some places reaches five hundred meters.

An amazing attraction for everyone!
Rafting on ancient rafts is a unique entertainment on a global scale that cannot be experienced in any other place. Therefore, when you are in the area of Pieniny Małe and Beskid Sądecki, you need to experience three hours of stunning views of the river surrounded by mountains. The Dunajec Gorge is a gorge carved in the limestone rocks of the Pieniny Mountains. During the trip, you circle around Trzy Korony and commune with wild nature - the views, the steady movement of the raft and the extremely interesting stories of the rafters give this tourist attraction a unique character.
The trip begins from the hamlet of Kąty in Sromowce Wyżynne - you can get there from Szczawnica by numerous buses, by car, or on foot along the convenient Pieniny Road. From the moment you set off, the journey takes from over 2 to less than 4 hours, depending on the water level in the river. It ends in Szczawnica or, upon special request, it can be extended to Krościenko, which takes an additional half an hour.
But rafting is not only about rafts - on the above route you can also go rafting on pontoons (rafting) and kayaks. Rafting under the supervision of instructors does not require great technical skills, but it gives great satisfaction from crossing the river. These attractions are intended for both advanced and beginner participants. Children can also participate. The coolness of the water, the mountain air and the beauty of the Pieniny landscape make everyone forget about everyday life and relax among the surrounding nature.
Dworzec Gościnny
Dworzec Gościnny is the former name of the building that was the cultural center of Szczawnica and the surrounding area in the 19th century. It was and still is the center of a health resort that provides various attractions for tourists, residents and visitors. Currently, it is called the Dworek Gościnny in Szczawnica, but it still serves its functions. In the 1960s, the Dworzec Gościnny burned down for unexplained reasons, and thus Szczawnica lost its cultural center.
The facility was rebuilt in 2008 and now the building, called the Dworek Gościnny, is an exact reproduction of the original. Dworek Gościnny is currently a cultural center of Szczawnica and the surrounding area, where numerous concerts, theater performances, fairs, exhibitions and business meetings - conferences and more are organized. Dworek Gościnny is located in Górny Park Zdrojowy, close to important sanatorium facilities. Everyone can benefit from the offer prepared by Dworek - patients, tourists and residents of the surrounding area.
Pieniny Museum
Currently, the Museum is located in the building of the former guard tower in Szlachtowa, near Szczawnica. A big attraction are exhibits such as traditional costumes of the Pieniny highlanders, elements of equipment on their farms and examples of folk art from this region. Particularly noteworthy are house emblems, which at one time served as building numbering. The Pieniny Museum is also a place where you can find biographical collections of the two most important people for Szczawnica - Józef Szalay and the writer Józef Wiktor.
A visit to the Pieniny Museum will be an ideal solution for a trip and entertainment during bad weather, as well as an interesting rest point for people who are interested in the history of the region. It is recommended for organized groups, families with children and individual tourists.
